Thank you! The method was:
1) use masking tape to produce narrow lines
2) paint beeswax in those lines
3) remove tape
4) paint in the segments created by the lines (wet/wet techique)

The pieces themselves tell me what they are. It's always the last thing I do before I can call something finished, and sometimes it takes a long time before that happens. It can be a struggle to listen to what they need.

Thank you! you know, I've sometimes found that I've misnamed something just because I was in a hurry to put my signature on it and call it finished. And then for weeks or months sometimes I'll look at it and think "that's not who that is." And i know that seems silly, because we're talking about a visual object with no consciousness and only I know its intent, but still - it will feel unsettled.
